We specialize in working with preschool and elementary-aged children to improve their communication skills.
We offer 30-, 45- or 60-minute treatment sessions. Weekly sessions are a good fit for many clients, though some children benefit from more frequent, intensive practice. Together, we’ll determine the ideal session length and frequency based on your child’s age, attention, diagnosis, and goals.
Services are billed at a rate of $170 per hour. This fee includes 50 minutes of direct client time, and 10 minutes for documenting and planning our next session! Many insurance plans provide coverage for speech and language therapy. Please contact your insurance provider to determine your coverage and any requirements for reimbursement. Fees are pro-rated for shorter sessions.
At your first session, I will spend time playing and building rapport with your child, while also gathering information from you, the parent. It's so important to establish trust and connection at the beginning of speech therapy - particularly for younger or shy children! Once your child is settled in, I will use a variety of formal and informal measures to gather the information that I will need to recommend next steps. At the end of our session we will make a plan together that prioritizes your goals for your child's growth.
At the start of each session, we’ll check in about any changes you’ve noticed since our last visit, and how your child responded to practice activities at home. From there, we will jump into structured practice focused on your child’s communication goals. I work to make speech sound therapy both fun and productive—in a typical session, your child may complete more than 100 practice trials of their target words or phrases! We’ll always leave time at the end to review your home practice plan, discuss next steps, and answer your questions.
Absolutely! Please let me know as soon as possible if you will require a written report or summary of our time together. Report writing is billed at our hourly rate. Short, informal summaries usually require about 1 hour to prepare, while a formal assessment report may take between 2 to 4 hours of writing time. For preschool-aged children, I am experienced at writing formal reports for PUF eligibility.
